Getting the tan you want means choosing your products carefully and the ProTan range has something for everyone. If you’re looking for competition standard tanning, ProTan products are the perfect choice and will give you a deep, dark, long-lasting tan with just one simple application. When applied correctly, your ProTan tan won’t run or streak and will fade like a natural tan after five to seven days.
Our top tips include:
- Exfoliate daily. One week before you intend to use ProTan, you should start exfoliating daily. For best results, use a natural exfoliator such as a salt or sugar solution with an exfoliating glove, and avoid oil based products as these can interact with ProTan products.
- Book your tanning session. If you are planning to use a sun bed, ensure that you have booked your session for the optimum time. If you are going on holiday or competing, you’ll want to time this carefully to ensure you get the most from your tanning procedure.
- Prepare your skin. One or two days before your ProTan application, you should shave and exfoliate the areas to which you wish to apply ProTan. Use mild soap and avoid any products that are oil-based.
- Moisturise well. You can prepare for an even tan by moisturising your skin to ensure it is smooth, supple and in great condition. You should not use moisturise on the day of application, but using a good moisturiser consistently before this will help to nourish your skin and improve your results.
- Shower before application. On the day of your tanning treatment, you should shower with mild soap, avoiding any strong or oily products that may interact with ProTan. Wear loose-fitting clothes, avoiding light colours as these may be damaged or stained by tanning products.
- Apply evenly. When you are applying your tanning products, you should work in sections, blending around areas that are likely to be dry, such as the knees, to obtain even coverage. This will help you to achieve the rich, even tone you want. Always apply tanning products in natural light, using a tanning mitt in circular motion for even application, beginning at the ankles and working up the body.
- Take care around dry skin areas. Some areas of the body can be problematic as they tend to absorb more of your tanning product. For the smoothest finish, you can exfoliate and then apply a light moisturiser to areas such as the elbows and knees before blending products carefully in these areas. Feet should be thoroughly moisturised before you apply tanning products, and it can be helpful to blend using a damp cloth for best results.
