American Crew Look & Learn with Ian Harrold & Chris O’Riordan

This certificate training program is targeted for the beginner to intermediate stylist/barber dedicated to building and maintaining a successful, loyal client base.

Learners will master the key cutting and styling skills foundations necessary to perfect the most desired men’s looks from over 27 years of American Crew history in a very tactical way.

In addition, the stylist will be introduced to the American Crew products used in each finishing look, become more knowledgeable in key consultation skills and best practices, and learn how to employ an American Crew grooming “language” to successfully connect with and service their clients.

Ian Harrold
All Star Lead UK & Ireland

Ian Harrold established his first company, Traditions Barber Shop, in 1996 when he was just 21 through a grant from The Princes Trust. In 2003 he diversified further into men’s grooming and opened an appointment based men’s salon called Attitude Mens Hair.

Ian also gained his Professional Diploma of Education, which he uses to train his own apprentices and employees personally. Ian has competed around the UK and internationally as part of the British Men’s Technical Team for the NHBF.

In 2004 Ian became part of the American Crew global Allstar Education Team. He is now in his 19th year as an Allstar.

He has delivered the Menswork education program across the UK, Europe and America. In addition to that Ian has also delivered trend education from every collection since 2005 all the way to the 2023 Ac-iD collection and has been part of collections shows in Barcelona, Malta and Serbia.

In 2008 Ian won the American Crew All Star Educator of the Year award. As the lead educator in the UK & Ireland, Ian has demonstrated as some of the biggest trade shows, working at Salon International in London, Cosmoprof in Moscow and the American Hair & Beauty Show in Chicago.

He has been part of hair runway shows including Revlon Style Masters in Prague, Amsterdam, Paris and Barcelona, as well as the American Crew European 10 Year Anniversary show in Palma and more recently the 25 Year Anniversary show in New York.

He has also been one of the judges for the American Crew Allstar Challenge and the Modern Barber magazine awards.

Ian still cuts hair in Attitude Mens Hair on a regular basis and understands both the rewards and the challenges of the day to say running of a men’s hair business.

Chris O'Riordan
All Star Team Ireland

Chris O'Riordan is a multi award winning barber from Co.Kerry in Ireland who has over 10 years experience in the hair industry. In these years he has built up a loyal clientele,
a strong social media following, along with winning multiple awards on both the national and international stage.

This has given him the opportunity to travel to many places around the world both competing, educating and working with brands such as Mizutani and GAMMA+.

Education is one of his passions, passing on knowledge through his own brand CORE.

Chris is a proud member of the education team for American Crew. Joining the All Star team in 2023 is one of his career highlights. He prides himself on his efficiency, consistency and attention to detail.
